Caroline Peterson, DC, PhD, MPH, CPM - Prenatal & Perinatal Clinician/Researcher
Childbirth Education

Dr. Caroline Peterson is completing her childbirth educator certificate through Birthworks and will soon begin offering classes.

Dr. Caroline Peterson believes a family should be informed about the physiological processes of birth, but that a woman experiences her best birth experience when she can get out of her left brain and abandon herself to the non-intellectual pursuit of birth. To prepare for this, families participate in visualization, drawing, and writing to tap into right brain dominance. Another important component in the classes is the integration of the baby's experience. The baby is presented as a co-laborer with the mother and birth is a dance between the two.

Topics in the course include
  • Neuro-biochemical-physiology of birth
  • Preparing for motherhood
  • Healing old wounds or fears
  • Bonding with baby throughout birth
  • Comfort strategies in birth
  • Informed choices you may have to make
  • Bonding with your baby after birth
